Kunggit at Home, Chongka Abroad: Sungka in the Filipino Diaspora

Sungka is the Philippine member of the mancala family, known also by the alternate name kunggit. Boards traditionally carry two rows of pits per player plus larger stores at each end, and Sungka continues to be played by Filipino communities today, at home and among migrants in the Marianas, where it is known as chongka, and in Taiwan, through relatively recent Filipino migration.
