Marit Bjorgen is a retired Norwegian cross country skier and the most decorated Winter Olympian in history, with 15 Olympic medals across five Games between 2002 and 2018. She dominated World Cup competition for nearly two decades, winning 114 individual races and eighteen World Championship gold medals. She announced her retirement from cross country skiing on 6 April 2018, briefly returned to long distance skiing, and ended her competitive career fully on 28 April 2022.
