Muhammad Ali

Muhammad Ali, born Cassius Clay, was an American boxer and three time world heavyweight champion, widely regarded as one of the greatest boxers in history. He won the Olympic light heavyweight gold medal at the 1960 Rome Games before turning professional. In 1967 he refused induction into the United States military on religious and conscientious objector grounds during the Vietnam War, and was stripped of his titles and boxing license and convicted of draft evasion; his conviction was unanimously overturned by the United States Supreme Court in 1971, but he had already lost more than three years of his boxing prime to the ban. He is also remembered for iconic bouts including the 1971 Fight of the Century against Joe Frazier and the 1974 Rumble in the Jungle against George Foreman.
