Nikola Karabatic is a French handball player born in Nis, Yugoslavia, to a Croatian father and Serbian mother, widely regarded as one of the greatest players in the sport's history. He anchored French teams that won three Olympic golds, four World Championships and four European Championships, and was named IHF World Player of the Year a men's record tying three times. He played for major clubs including Montpellier HB, THW Kiel, FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, and his younger brother Luka is also a professional handball player for France.
