UEFA, the Union of European Football Associations, was founded in Basel on 15 June 1954 as European football's governing body. It moved its headquarters from Bern to Paris and then, in 1995, to Nyon, Switzerland, where its House of European Football building was inaugurated in 1999. UEFA organizes national-team and club competitions across Europe, including the UEFA European Championship.
